General Motors announced it would record $7.1 billion in special charges during the fourth quarter.
The special charges are related to the company's pullback in electric vehicles, as well as restructuring efforts in China, CNBC reports.
GM is scheduled to report its fourth-quarter financial results on Jan. 27.
