GM to recall 1.5M cars in China

General Motors Inc. and its Chinese partner have set in motion plans to recall 1.46 million Buick and Chevrolet vehicles because of defective fuel-pump brackets.

The recall represents one of the biggest yet for the world's largest auto maker, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Shanghai General Motors Co., the 50-50 joint venture between GM and SAIC Motor, will replace the defective parts with new ones at no cost to owners. Replacing the fuel-pump brackets costs as much as $80 per vehicle, according to dealer estimates.
