GM to invest $174M in Fairfax plant

Preparing to build the newly redesigned 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, General Motors Co. announced it will invest $174 million in its Fairfax assembly plant in Kansas City, Kan.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, the investment would help the plant completely redesign the vehicle to compete better with ther models.

"It's great that we're building the Malibu here," GM CEO Mary Barra said Monday while visiting the plant. "It's a very important product for Chevrolet because the midsized segment is the second largest."
