GM to invest $1.3B in production

General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) is moving to invest $1.3 billion to expand domestic manufacturing operations at five U.S. plants, according to Fox News.

The automaker said the investment would create or retain 1,000 jobs across plants in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. About $600,000 of the projected capital investment would go toward a truck factory in Flint, Mich., the company’s oldest auto assembly plant, where a new paint shop is included in facility upgrades.

The latest plans by GM bring the company’s total investments in U.S. facilities announced this year to $2.8 billion, according to Fox News. This year, GM’s stock is up 40 percent.
