General Motors Co. announced it would exit Australia, New Zealand and Thailand by year's end.
The restructuring means the end of the 164-year-old Holden brand in Australia. Holden's Commodore sedan was the best-selling car in the country until 2011.
“I’ve often said that we will do the right thing, even when it’s hard, and this is one of those times,” GM CEO Mary Barra said in a statement.
