GM signs $490M contract to build ventilators

General Motors signed a $490 million federal contract to make ventilators amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The deal was awarded under the Defense Production Act, which President Donald Trump recently activated.

Department of Health and Human Services officials said the GM deal is the first contract under the act.
