GM sheds Europe's Opel, Vauxhall in $2.2B deal

General Motors struck a deal to sell its underperforming European operations to France's PSA Groupe for about $2.2 billion.

PSA, the owner of the Peugeot and Citroen brands, will become the second-largest automaker in Europe with the deal. Volkswagen is No. 1.

Vauxhall and Opel together made about $1.8 billion in revenue last year.
