GM posts strong first-quarter profits

General Motors more than doubled first-quarter profits to $1.95 billion.

Revenue rose 4.5 percent to $37.3 billion.

"We're growing where it counts, gaining retail market share in the U.S., outpacing the industry in Europe and capitalizing on robust growth in SUV and luxury segments in China," GM CEO Mary Barra said in a statement.
