The Ozarks Lunkers, the Springfield indoor football team of The Arena League, has named its first general manager.

Caleb Scott, who has football management experience through his ownership of the Queen City Insane Asylum amateur team, has been hired by the Lunkers, according to a news release.

"Caleb begins his GM responsibilities this week, where he will be instrumental in shaping the Lunkers' future," said Mark Burgess, owner of the Lunkers, in the release. "His passion for the sport and strong business acumen will undoubtedly drive the team to great heights."

Burgess, a Springfield businessperson who also operates Burgess Aircraft Management LLC, dba OzAir Charter Service, was unveiled as the owner of the Lunkers during a ceremony in June that also revealed the team's name, according to past reporting. The Springfield team, part of The Arena League that's set to launch in June 2024, is scheduled to play at Wilson Logistics Arena.

Monica Henderson, vice president of team operations for the Lunkers, said via email that Scott would not continue to run the Queen City Insane Asylum. Scott could not be reached immediately for comment by deadline on the future of the team.

For the Lunkers, Scott appears to be hitting the ground running.

According to the release, he's already progressing on assembling a team, facilitating ticket sales and working with potential sponsors, among other duties.

"I love this area, and I love football. It's truly humbling to be a part of building something that the Ozark community, my family and my son can take pride in," Scott said in the release.

Scott was selected after the Lunkers received 26 resumes for the general manager position, Henderson said.
