General Motors is delaying electric pickup truck production at a factory near Detroit.
Production of electric Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups is now scheduled to start in late 2025 at the plant in Orion Township, Michigan. The previous goal was to start production in 2024.
Company officials cited slowing demand for electric vehicles, as well as planned changes to engineering and capital investments.
