GM: 80 tests prove recalled cars are safe

CNNMoney reports General Motors announced on Thursday that the 2.6 million cars recalled for a defective ignition switch are safe to drive.
 
The automaker stated it has conducted more than 80 tests that show the cars are safe to drive as long as there is only the original ignition key in the ignition and not a key ring or fob, or replacement ignition key.
 
GM has admitted it waited more than a decade to address the issue of the faulty ignitions, which are linked to at least 13 deaths.
