The third-annual Give Ozarks fundraiser was the top-raising event so far.

The total came to more than $1.38 million, besting the $1.18 million raised in 2016. Conducted through GiveOzarks.org, donors this year could contribute to more than 240 nonprofits, a record number of participants for the event. The preliminary total this year was $1.21 million, but that figure did not include money raised outside of the website.

The top five nonprofits, by fundraising totals, were:
    •    the Horses Assisting Youth Foundation, $74,109 via 25 donations;
    •    Springfield Little Theatre, $54,251 via 901 donations;
    •    Care to Learn, $46,879 via 220 donations;
    •    Camp Barnabas, $43,428 via 204 donations; and
    •    Kids’ Harbor, $36,386 via 98 donations.

During Give Ozarks Day on May 9, the 24-hour campaign garnered $500,000 in donations by 8:30 a.m. It started at midnight. Give Ozarks utilizes Mostly Serious LLC’s crowdfunding portal, Cause Momentum.

Last year’s campaign raised $1.18 million from more than 11,800 donors, above $1.02 million in the inaugural year.
