The business day had barely begun before the online Give Ozarks fundraiser hit the $500,000 mark.
The third-annual fundraising event conducted through
GiveOzarks.org had $631,289 in donations as of 11 a.m.
Comparatively, the 2016 campaign had $546,850 in donations by noon and the 2015 event had $563,643 donated by mid-day.
The campaign that launched at midnight reached the $500,000 threshold at 8:30 a.m., said Community Foundation of the Ozarks spokesman Matt Lemmon.
GiveOzarks.org utilizes Mostly Serious LLC’s crowdfunding portal, Cause Momentum, of which CFO is a partner.
During Give Ozarks Day, donors can contribute to the campaigns of more than 240 nonprofits, a record number of participants for the event.
The top five nonprofits this morning by 11 a.m. were:
• the Horses Assisting Youth Foundation, $58,739 via seven donations;
• Ozark Regional Land Trust, $23,025 via 174 donations;
• The Summit Preparatory School, $18,889 via 71 donations;
• Springfield Little Theatre, $18,046 via 348 donations; and
• Care to Learn, $16,267 via 89 donations.
Last year’s Give Ozarks campaign raised $1.18 million from more than 11,800 donors.
