Gillioz schedules Weird Al show

Downtown venue Gillioz Theatre has landed a concert with multidecade Grammy award-winning comedic musician and satirist Weird Al Yankovic.

Yankovic, known for his pop culture parody songs, is scheduled to play at the Springfield theater April 20, according to a news release.

During the concert, Yankovic is slated to play his greatest hits, including “White & Nerdy,” “Eat It,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Another One Rides The Bus,” “Like A Surgeon” and “Amish Paradise."

During the past 30 years, 13 of Yankovic's albums have hit Billboard's Top 200 chart, 28 have gone gold and platinum, and he has received three Grammy awards and 12 nominations, the release said.

The concert marks a Springfield return for Yankovic, who played the 2008 Ozark Empire Fair.

Tickets for the Gillioz show start at $35 and go on sale Dec. 14.
