The Gillioz Center for Arts and Entertainment has penned an agreement with the Springfield Cardinals to bring concerts to Hammons Field.
Through the deal, the Gillioz Theatre operator is slated to negotiate and secure artists and handle production-related duties, while the Cardinals will maintain ticketing and promotion for Hammons Field events, according to a news release. Hammons Field has the capacity to host nearly 8,000 people for events.
“This partnership with the Springfield Cardinals is a significant step in further defining Springfield, Missouri, as a hub for art and entertainment in the national touring industry," said Geoff Steele, executive director of the Gillioz Center for Arts and Entertainment, in the release. "Showcasing this venue and our hospitality culture not only makes for great experiences for residents; it means consistent economic growth as we attract visitors for these activities.
"We’re exporting Springfield in very intentional and intelligent ways."
Steele declined to disclose the financial terms of the open-ended agreement via email this morning.
"We will evaluate next year and ensure all parties are satisfied with the process," he added.
Hammons Field last year hosted a concert from retired St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright, and it also has been home to Dinner on the Diamond and Celebrate Springfield events.
The goal is to bring more concerts to Hammons Field starting as soon as spring 2026, according to the release.
"Since the city of Springfield purchased the stadium, our intent has been to serve the community as an outdoor concert venue a few times each year,” said Dan Reiter, general manager of the Springfield Cardinals, in the release. “The Hatch Foundation initiated step one by purchasing field decking for future shows. Now we are ready for the next step to achieve that goal and believe this strategic partnership with Gillioz will help us get there. To partner with Geoff Steele and his team at Gillioz is a great example of a win-win-win scenario for both of our organizations and the community at large."
The Cardinals agreement marks the second new management deal for the Gillioz Center for Arts and Entertainment in as many months.
The Gillioz in September signed an agreement with History Museum on the Square Inc. to manage its Fox Theatre on Park Central Square, according to past reporting.
Steele said in the email this morning that he will be in Nashville starting Sunday to secure talent on behalf of the Gillioz, the Fox Theatre and Hammons Field.
