Gillioz executive director steps down

Posted online
Gillioz Theatre Executive Director Jeff Jenkins announced Aug. 31 he is resigning his position, effective immediately.

Jenkins said he will focus his time on The Skinny Improv comedy troupe, which he founded in 2002, and personal projects.

"The Skinny Improv is (building) positive momentum," he said. "I want to be able to give the appropriate resources to create and build that."

Jenkins took the Gillioz post in November 2009.

While at the head, Jenkins helped to bring acts such as Ozark Mountain Dare Devils, Blues Traveler, Dar Williams and Switchfoot to the theater.

"Jeff has helped to build a platform that continues to distinguish the theater as one that delivers the variety and quality expected of this remarkable and unique Ozark gem," Gillioz Board President David Roling said in a Gillioz news release.

Director of Operations Michael Owens, a Missouri State University entertainment management graduate, will take over management of the theater. He has an entertainment and venue management background, including experience with the concert promotion company Live Nation, the release said.

"I am confident Michael Owens will step into this leadership role and serve the Gillioz and Springfield area well," Gillioz Board member Philip Rothschild said in the release. "We expect great things to come from Michael's direction."[[In-content Ad]]
