The maker of Gibson guitars and Baldwin pianos filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Nashville, Tennessee-based Gibson Brands indicated it has support from enough creditors for a deal that would keep the company alive.
The company, however, plans to end its Gibson Innovations unit, which makes Philips-branded headphones, speakers and other electronic accessories.
