General Electric CEO John Flannery told senior-level executives to prepare for layoffs at the company's headquarters and other areas of the company, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.
"The cutting is going to start and it's going to be aggressive," said the source, who had direct knowledge of the discussions.
GE spokeswoman Jennifer Erickson said the company plans to reduce costs by $2 billion at the end of 2018. She declined to discuss the details.
