Germany narrowly avoids recession

Germany economy's avoided a technical recession in the third quarter.

The country's economy grew by 0.1% after a drop in the second quarter. Two consecutive periods of negative growth constitutes a technical recession.

“The truth of the matter is that Germany doesn’t have a robust growth perspective at the moment," said Daniela Schwarzer, director of the German Council on Foreign Relations. "There needs to be a strong investment in education, research and innovation, and Germany needs infrastructure investment as well.”
