Germanwings co-pilot researched cockpit doors, suicide prior to crash

Posted online
A disturbing picture is emerging of the state of mind of the Germanwings co-pilot investigators believe purposely took down a plane last week after locking out his captain from the flight deck.

In the days before the March 24 crash killed all 150 people on board, data retrieved from a tablet computer of co-pilot Andreas Lubitz’ home in Dusseldorf showed he looked up suicide methods and cockpit-door mechanics.

The latest findings add to what investigators have learned about Lubitz – now known to have battled depression – since the crash, and support the belief by prosecutors that he willfully flew the plane into the side of a mountain.

Prosecutors also have said Lubitz was looking for medical assistance on the tablet, according to Bloomberg Business.
