George Lucas drops plans to build museum in Chicago

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas has abandoned plans to open a museum in Chicago.

The Lucas Museum would have showcased his art collection along the city's lakefront.

However, plans have been on hold since November 2014, when the group Friends of the Parks filed a federal lawsuit blocking construction. The group argued the museum did not belong on the property, as it would diminish the city's lakefront and would benefit private interests more than that of the public.
