With state highway work forcing a move from East Chestnut Expressway, Gene’s Gallery Inc. is relocating to a former car wash site just south of Evangel University.
Ye Olde Buggy Bath, 945 N. Glenstone Ave., was recently demolished to make way for the motorcycle aftermarket product shop that specializes in Honda Gold Wings.
Gene’s Gallery owner Gregg McNabb, who could not be reached for comment this morning, told
Springfield Business Journal in March the company was seeking a new home after 14 years due to an impending buyout settlement with the Missouri Department of Transportation. The state is building a bridge over the adjacent railroad tracks, along with an accessory road designed to travel southeast through the Gene’s Gallery property.
McNabb indicated he’d move the store this fall.
Greene County assessor records show MoDOT acquired the nearly 1-acre Chestnut property June 9. Wehr-Fourt LLC transferred the Glenstone Avenue property deed to McNabb on June 2, according to a Greene County recorder filing.
The 0.8-acre Glenstone property has a 2015 taxable appraised value of $326,800, according to the assessor’s website.
City building permits list Richard Werner as the project architect for the new Gene’s Gallery, with demolition work by Williams Construction.[[In-content Ad]]
