General Motors to announce $1B US investment

General Motors plans to announce as early as today it will invest $1 billion in its U.S. factories, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters.

While the announcement would follow recent criticism of the company by President-elect Donald Trump over its plans in Mexico, GM's decision is being made for business and not political reasons, the source said.

The investment would create or retain over 1,000 jobs.
