General Motors doubles Q3 profits

General Motors doubled third-quarter net income on strong truck and SUV sales in its home U.S. market.

The third-largest automaker in the world posted earnings of $2.8 million, a 104 percent increase. Earnings per share came to $1.76, above analysts' expectations of $1.45.

The company $42.8 billion in revenue also exceeded analysts' expectations of $39.4 billion.
