GE offers $1.4B for 3-D printing companies

General Electric offered a combined $1.4 billion for two European suppliers of 3-D printing manufacturing equipment.

The company hopes to boost its 3-D printing capabilities with the buyout of Arcam of Sweden and SLM Solutions Group of Germany.

Since 2010, GE has invested $1.5 billion in manufacturing and 3-D printing technology.
