General Electric officials said Wednesday the company is under investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Investigators are said to be looking into a $6.2 billion insurance loss GE revealed last week.
They're also investigating the company's accounting, Chief Financial officer Jamie Miller told analysts during a conference call.
"We are cooperating fully with the investigation, which is in very early stages," Miller said, noting the SEC specifically is looking at "revenue recognition and controls" for the company's long-term service agreements.
