Gay marriage heading to Supreme Court

The Supreme Court announced Friday it would decide whether same-sex couples have a right to marry in states that currently don’t recognize those unions, according to The Associated Press.

The justices will hear cases that ask them to overturn bans in four states and decide whether people across America can marry partners based on their choosing, regardless of their gender.

The cases are slated to be heard by the nation’s high court in April with a decision expected before July.
