The duo will unveil three designs today at the Springfield City Council luncheon at noon at the Busch Municipal Building.
Tonight, from 5:30–8 p.m., the public is invited to view each design in the upper lobby of the Jordan Valley Ice Park, 635 E. Trafficway.
Design ideas for the former quarry site at National Avenue and Trafficway were generated through a series of public input sessions that began a year ago. Each of the final designs has one of three basic concepts: “events,” “naturalistic” and “play.” All designs feature open green space, natural resource sustainability and recognition of Springfield’s Sister Cities – Isesaki, Japan, and Tlaquepaque, Mexico.
The public also is invited to view the designs and take an online survey about them starting Wednesday at the city’s Web site, www.springfieldmo.gov.
Funding for the GreenWorks/Hagerman New Urbanism contract, future design work and initial development work is provided by $2.2 million in federal Economic Development Initiative grants secured by U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, according to a city news release.
Visit sbj.net Tuesday afternoon for details of the gateway plaza design concepts.[[In-content Ad]]
