Charles Hill, AIA, is the project architect for this approximately $8 million structure, which is owned by Southwest Baptist University. Killian Construction is the general contractor, and the estimated completion date is spring 2004.
The 146,000-square-foot facility includes the redevelopment of the existing 40-year-old field house into a modern facility, and major additions to meet students' needs for recreation and physical development. Included in the project are an expanded basketball arena with a new entry facing campus, a three-court intramural gymnasium, four racquetball courts, weight and cardiovascular spaces, a climbing wall, swimming pool, sports medicine center, athletic training department and support facilities dedicated to the health, physical education and recreation of SBU students.
