Average retail gas prices in Missouri rose 8.8 cents in the past week, bringing the average price per gallon to $2.63 through yesterday.
The increase in the Show-Me State outpaced the U.S. average of 5.5 cents, although Missouri’s average cost per gallon still sits below the national average of $2.81, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
Including yesterday’s average, prices were 17.7 cents higher than a month ago but 82.1 cents lower than a year ago. The national average increased 11.1 cents in the past month but decreased 85.8 cents in the past year.
As of 10 a.m., Missouri was No. 11 on
GasBuddy’s list of lowest average retail prices in the U.S. South Carolina tops the list with the cheapest gas at an average price of $2.48 per gallon, while California has the most expensive with a $3.53 per gallon average.
According to MissouriGasPrices.com, five filling stations in Monett were selling gas this morning at $2.27 per gallon, the lowest price in the state. Twenty St. Louis-area stations had the highest prices at $2.89 per gallon.
Springfield area residents could purchase gas as low as $2.49 per gallon at both Sam’s Club locations. Prices across the city ranged from $2.49 to $2.54 per gallon.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at $59.55 per barrel, compared to a 52-week range of $47.46 to $97.27.
Light sweet crude oil futures for July were trading at $59.52.
