Gas prices jump after a month of decline

Average retail gasoline prices in Missouri are up more than 11 cents per gallon in the last week, according to the latest information from MissouriGasPrices.com.

The statewide average for gas was $2.60 as of Monday, up 11.2 cents from a week earlier. The price is lower than the $2.73 national average per gallon, which has risen nearly 4 cents in the last week.

Missouri prices were 6.4 cents higher than the same day a year ago and 3.6 cents lower than a month earlier, while the national average had increased 7.2 cents over the year but decreased 9 cents for the month.

In Springfield, gas prices - as reported by price spotters to MissouriGasPrices.com - run from $2.49 to $2.54 as of Tuesday morning.
