Missouri average retail gasoline prices saw a minor uptick of 1 cent per gallon during the week of May 9-15, averaging $3.82 a gallon yesterday.
State prices May 15 were 10.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and $1.08 per gallon higher than the same day last year, according to a GadBuddy.com news release.
As of 8:58 a.m., the cheapest gas in the state could be found for $3.58 per gallon in Harrisonville, near Kansas City. The highest gas price was $3.99 per gallon in St. Louis.

Missouri ranked 16th among the U.S. in a list of lowest gas prices by state, compared to the morning of May 9 when it ranked 17th. Wyoming, South Carolina and Utah made up the Top 3 spots, respectively.
The least expensive gas in Springfield was $3.73 per gallon at the city's Sam's Club locations: 3660 E. Sunshine St. and 745 W. El Camino Alto St., according to MissouriGasPrices.com.
Nationwide, gas averaged $3.93 a gallon yesterday after increasing 0.3 cents per gallon during the past week. Prices throughout the states were 12.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and have increased by $1.05 per gallon from a year ago.
The U.S. price per barrel for crude oil was $112.62 as of May 6, compared to $79.90 per barrel a year before, according to the most recent data available from the
U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Light sweet crude oil futures for June were trading at $98.54 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange as of 9:09 a.m., according to the
CME Group. June futures were trading at $99.51 a barrel the morning of May 9, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
