Garmin plans expansion in KC area, adding 2,700 jobs

Olathe, Kan.-based navigation-technology company Garmin International Inc. is planning add a 712,842-square-foot manufacturing and distribution center to is over 90-acre headquarters southwest of Kansas City.

The expansion is expected to accommodate 2,700 new employees. The company has reported 3,416 full-time employees, according to the Kansas City Business Journal, which ranked Garmin No. 11 on its Top Private-Sector Employers List.

Today, the Olathe Planning Commission is slated to consider Garmin’s master plan.
