Gannett Co. sweetened its offer for Tribune Publishing Co. to $15 per share.
The bid follows the rejection of a former offer by Tribune's board of directors.
The latest values Tribune, the owner of the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and nine other dailies, at about $479 million. Gannett also is offering to assume $385 million in debt.
