The 3M NASCAR simulator will be at Johnston’s Springfield branch, 1345 N. Nias Ave., 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and customers are invited to step behind the wheel for a three-minute simulated ride, according to a news release.
The event is a fund-raiser, and Johnston will be collecting optional $10 donations to help purchase gifts for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House during the holidays.
The simulation measures how the average driver handles the challenges of racing a stock car, which include banking, aero push and chassis roll as well as under and over steering. Under the hood of the simulator is a NASCAR engine.
The top three drivers will advance to “victory lane” and receive a cash prize, according to the release.
3M is the title sponsor for the racecar driven by Todd Kluever, who is ranked No. 17 and competing for NASCAR rookie honors.
