The Midwest, where the least expensive gasoline prices are typically found, is beginning to catch up with the rest of the nation. While national averages for unleaded gasoline remained virtually unchanged, price averages in the Midwest rose 6 cents, to $2.12 per gallon, according to the Energy Information Administration. The U.S. average price for a gallon of gasoline was $2.15 as of Dec. 5, unchanged since Nov. 28. The price of crude oil per barrel was $59.31 as of Dec. 2, up 96 cents from Nov. 23.
