Panic buying hit gas stations in the southeastern United States on Wednesday.
Shortages were reported in parts or all of 11 states. At least 12,000 gas stations were completely out of fuel.
The panic buying came after a ransomware attack on the systems of Colonial Pipeline forced it to shut down its pipeline connecting Texas to New Jersey.
