Amazon's $13.7 billion acquisition of Whole Foods Market Inc. has cleared a major obstacle.
The Federal Trade Commission announced yesterday it doesn't plan to block the purchase. Officials said they're stopping an examination over whether the deal would lessen competition.
The announcement came just a few hours after Whole Foods shareholders approved the deal. Amazon has said it plans to wrap up the purchase by year's end.
