The Federal Trade Commission sued to block a proposed $8.5 billion acquisition of Capri Holdings.
Tapestry, the parent company of Coach and Kate Spade, is seeking to purchase Capri Holdings, which holds brands such as Versace, Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors.
"This deal threatens to deprive consumers of the competition for affordable handbags, while hourly workers stand to lose the benefits of higher wages and more favorable workplace conditions," said Henry Liu, director of the FTC's Bureau of Competition.
