FTC sues Match.com owner

The Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against Match Group, the owner of Match.com, Tinder, OKCupid and Plenty of Fish.

The FTC is accusing Match Group of creating fake accounts to lure in new paying users to Match.com between 2013 and mid-2018.

The FTC alleges 25-30% of so-called members were bogus profiles.

Match Group officials called the claims "outrageous" and said it plans to "vigorously" defend itself in court.
