FTC sues 3 pharmacy benefit managers

The Federal Trade Commission has filed suit against three pharmacy benefit managers for allegedly creating a "perverse drug rebate system" that artificially inflates the cost of insulin.

The PBMs in the lawsuit are CVS Health's Caremark Rx, Cigna's Express Scripts and United Health Group's OptumRx.

Those three PBMs make up about 80% of the market.
