FTC: Social media scams cost consumers $2.1B in 2025

Social media scams cost Americans $2.1 billion in 2025, according to a new report from the Federal Trade Commission.

Consumer losses from social media scams have increased eightfold, according to the FTC.

Additionally, the report indicated that social media scams have resulted in higher losses than any other method scammers used to contact consumers.
