The Federal Trade Commission announced it's fining Facebook $5 billion, the largest amount ever imposed by the government agency against a technology company.
The FTC began its probe into Facebook in March 2018 after news of the Cambridge Analytica scandal broke.
FTC officials alleged Facebook violated an agreement requiring it to give users clear notifications when their data is being shared with third parties.
