The New York Times reports beginning Oct. 15 and continuing for five weeks, the Fruit of the Loom will send a congratulatory package of underpants to people who announce getting a new job on LinkedIn.
The promotion, called Fresh Gigs, offers new hires their choice of style and size, as well as a coupon for a future undies purchase, in exchange for sharing the news of the underwear score on their LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter accounts. The underwear and coupon will arrive in a gift bag, but not one delivered by the iconic Fruit of the Loom Guys.
After more than 30 years as the company’s spokesfruit, the apple, grapes and currants characters are being plucked from the marketing department.
