Project description: The Westport Elementary School building is expanding to accommodate students from Study Middle School, according to SPS spokeswoman Teresa Bledsoe. After the addition is complete, she said the district’s alternate programs including Bailey High School would relocate to Study. The middle school areas will be separate from the elementary areas, including two cafeterias, Bledsoe said. The addition, which will have a Federal Emergency Management Agency safe room that can be used as a storm shelter during nonschool hours, is funded by 2009 voter-approved bonds.
