Project description: Former Springfield City Councilman Scott Bailes said he got the idea for developing the Villas at Eastgate after searching the market for a senior-living residence for his mother. “For a year, I drove my mom to every rental place for seniors in Springfield. We walked through every one, and my mom would say, ‘It doesn’t have a garage. It has too many steps. I don’t want to use an elevator. I want granite countertops. I want to be on the east side of Sunshine,’” Bailes said. “So, you know what we did? We built what she wanted.” He said there are 29 units across five buildings, ranging from four units to eight units each, and floor plans priced $975-$1,500 per month. Features include no steps, private garages, brick and stone exteriors, and appliances.
