Project description: With all of the attention on Springfield’s second Target – a 148,000-square-foot retail store scheduled to open March 15, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting – it would be easy to overlook what’s going up beside it at the intersection of Sunshine Street and Kansas Expressway. That’s a retail shopping center with divisible space ranging 1,875-9,375 square feet to accommodate multiple commercial tenants. Triple-net leasing is offered at a rate of $35-$75 per square foot per year, according to a post on the website of Jared Commercial & Management LLC. Curtis Jared of Jared Commercial & Management said he is working with potential tenants but is not yet ready to make an announcement about them. A community improvement district has been established for the retail center and out-lots, not including Target; through it, 1% will be collected for 27 years and is estimated to generate some $2.2 million to reimburse public improvements to the 23-acre site, according to past SBJ reporting.
