Project description: Southwest Springfield is getting its first stand-alone Starbucks store despite the coffee company announcing the closure of 400 stores over the summer. Brandi Bailey, vice president of strategic development and marketing at project contractor Snyder Construction Group, said the store will be the seventh free-standing Starbucks in the city. Nationwide, Starbucks operates more than 30,000 stores in 80 markets, according to the company’s website. Curtis Jared, managing member of Alliance Capital Investors, said he took on the project because of its highly populated location. The store is directly east of the Gene Taylor Veterans’ Outpatient Clinic near where Kansas Expressway comes to a T on Republic Road. Jared also built a stand-alone building for Starbucks three years ago in the Brentwood Center, across from Battlefield Mall, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
