Project description: Jared Enterprises is creating a shell building for Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) and will serve as the landlord, developer Curtis Jared said, but the coffee company is doing the infill and will hire its own engineer for mechanical, electrical and plumbing work. Located in the northwest corner of the Brentwood Center, in front of Farmers Gastropub, Jared said Starbucks plans to open by the first week of July. The store would be the 17th Starbucks in the city, including kiosk locations, according to Starbucks.com., and another two stores are in the works. The Seattle-based chain entered Springfield in 2004 via a Kickapoo Corners store, which now is among 24,000 retail stores in 70 countries.
