Project description: The Springfield sheltered workshop, among 93 in the state, is adding warehouse space for a total of 28,000 square feet. The entire facility, including production and offices, covers 70,000 square feet. General Manager Ray McMenamy said the warehouse addition routes trailer-truck traffic away from pedestrian traffic. The not-for-profit program provides employment for people with developmental disabilities. McMenamy said the approximately 200 employees perform light manufacturing work, including repackaging, labeling, shrink wrapping, bundling and collating for such companies as Kraft, 3M, Unimark and Reckitt Benckiser.
